President's Message
SHO-BOND & MIT Infrastructure Maintenance Corporation was established in April 2019 for the purpose of contributing to the global infrastructure maintenance market, followed by the establishment of a joint venture in Thailand in November 2020 as its first overseas base for the development of infrastructure maintenance business in Southeast Asia. Using the comprehensive strengths in infrastructure maintenance accumulated by the SHO-BOND Group in Japan, and the global network and overseas business know-how accrued by Mitsui Group, we will provide appropriate solutions for the problem infrastructure aging and deterioration all over the world.
The size of the global market of infrastructure maintenance is estimated to be 200 trillion yen and covers wide-ranging infrastructure such as water and sewer service plants, electricity plants, roads, railways, airports, and ports. In particular, the road and railway market, in which SHO-BOND Group specializes, is said to be about 38 trillion yen.
Structures that were once robust and aesthetically pleasing will gradually deteriorate due to long-term use and severe environmental changes. These days, there are reports from all over the world that some bridges have suddenly collapsed as a consequence of insufficient maintenance.
In Japan, the concept of asset management, in which infrastructure is regarded as an asset, has become pervasive, and measures are taken from the early stage of infrastructural deterioration, making it possible to achieve cost-effective, efficient longevity of structures.
Nowadays, the problem of infrastructure deterioration has become a larger issue in various parts of the world. For infrastructure maintenance that requires an enormous amount of investment, greater efficiency is required.
Utilizing our extensive strengths in handling various maintenance and repair cases, we will engage in infrastructure maintenance around the world, with confidence, as a pioneer thereof.
